RESOLUTION 4012
WHEREAS, the residents of Orange County living in the
Corona del Mar area have no small boat launching ramp for access
to the Lower Bay, and
WHEREAS, the proposed new County launching ramp on the
Upper Bay, and the other City launching ramp are too distant for
the practical launching of .small boats owned by residents of the
Corona del Mar area, and
HWEREAS, access to the Lower by by said boats which
might be launched from the proposed County launching ramp in the
Upper Bay, is prevented by the Upper Bay Bridge, and
WHEREAS, there is no location for launching ramp purposes
within the city limits in the Corona del Mar area, and
HHEREAS, the former ramp at Carnation Avenue has been
discontinued due to the fact that it constitutes a traffic hazard)
and is adjacent to residential property,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach does strongly urge the Orange County
Board of Supervisors and the Orange County Harbor Commission
that suitable facilities for the launching of small boats under
seventeen (17) feet in length be installed in connection with the
Orange County Harbor Commission project for the development of
Harbor Commission facilities on Bayside Drive easterly of the
Balboa Yacht Club.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly passed and
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach held on the 27th day of October, 1952, by the fol-
lowing vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Smith, Isbell, Finch,
Bennett, and Miller
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: None
