RESOLUTICO No. 4164
WHEREAS, there have been presented to the City Clerk
of the City of Newport Heach certain petitions seeking the
ing of an election of a Board of Freeholders to draft a
Charter of the City of Vewport Beach; and
OHMEAS, said! Petitions have looen checked and re. -ohe
by the City Clerk and have been certified to by him as being at
ficient in form and number, under the provisions of Article XI,
section g of the California Constitution and under they
provisions of the Elections Code of the :Mate of California;
TWMEAS, it now becomes the fluty of tble City Council
to call a special election, as requested in said petitions;
Mi, THEREFORE, BE IT RLSOLVEDs that a special elsotie
is hereby galled and set for the 22nd day of December, 1953, at
which, time there shall be presented to the electors of the City
of Newport Beach two questions to be voted on, the first being,
shall a Board of Freeholders be eleoted to frame .a proposed char
ter for the City of Newport Beach; and the second one being the
selection of a Board of 15 freeholders to frame the charter, if
the first question is answered in the affirmative by the voters;
BE IT FURTHER RESiiUMP that the City Clerk of the Cif
of Newport Deach be, and he is hpreby, authorized and directed
to take all steps necessary to they calling and holding of the s
special election.
The above and foregoing Resolution was duly and reg
passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Newport
at I an adjourned regular meeting; thereof, held on the 28th day
October, 1953, by the following vote, to wit;
