RESOLUTION NO. 4978
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING A REVISION OF BAIL
3 SCHEDULE ON CERTAIN PARKING VIOLATIONS

511 WHEREAS, the schedule of bail on parking violations has
6 been in existence for nearly two years; and
7 WHEREAS, since the schedule was established there has
8 been increased traffic and substantial increase in parking
9 congestion and parking violations; and
10 WHEREAS, the bail schedule on parking violations is
11 such that it does not discourage overtime parking and, in some
12 instances, it costs less to violate the parking regulations than
1311 it does to pay the cost of lawful parking;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Justice Court be
15 requested to revise the bail schedule to provide bail of $3.00 for
16 all loading zone parking violations, $5.00 for parking violations
17 in red zones, and $3.00 for violations of regulations requiring no
18 parking at certain times.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
20 resolution be forwarded to the Honorable William Christensen,
21 Judge of the Justice Court, Newport Beach Judicial District.
22 This resolution was adopted by the City Council of the
