RESOLUTION N0. Soy/
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
CONTRACT -UNDER WHICH THE CITY FURNISHES LIFE-
GUARD SERVICE AND IS REIMBURSED BY.ORANGE COUNTY
WHEREAS, the public beaches in the City are being used
by large numbers of residents of the County who are not residents
of the City, with the result of an increase in cost of maintenance)
of the beaches and furnishing service therefor; and
WHEREAS, residents of the City make use of beaches in
the unincorporated area of the County adjacent to the City; and
AREAS, it is deemed necessary that lifeguard service
be furnished to the areas of the County outside the City, which
can be done conveniently with City forces; and
WHEREAS, $54,000.00 is the estimated cost to the City of
maintaining the public beaches in the City and furnishing services
therefor as a result of the use by said residents of the County
and of supplying lifeguard service to the County beaches adjoining
the City for the fiscal year 1959 -1960; and
WHEREAS, an agreement has been presented to the City
Council in which Orange County agrees to pay the City $54,000.00
to reimburse the City for said costs and pay for said services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby approves the proposed agreement
and requests that amount of financial assistance from the County
for reimbursement of the cost and payment for the service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be
and are hereby authorized and directed to execute said agreement on
behalf of the City of Newport Beach.
This resolution was adopted by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting on the /o4' day of

regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of
