A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH CONFIRMING REPORT OF STREET
SUPERINTENDENT ON WEED ABATEMENT
WHEREAS, the City. Council of the City of Newport Beach,
pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 4 of Article VII of the
Newport Beach Municipal Code, by Resolution No. 5300 declared
weeds on certain streets, sidewalks, parkways, and private prop-
erty in said City to be a public nuisance, and designated the
Street Superintendent of the City of Newport Beach as the person
to give notice to destroy such weeds, which notice was given by
him in accordance with the above mentioned chapter and article of.
the Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said notice a public hearing was
held to allow protests to the removal of such weeds and, all pro-
tests having been overruled, the City Council ordered the Street
Superintendent to proceed with the abatement of weeds; and
WHEREAS, the Street Superintendent of the City of Newport
Beach kept an account of the cost of abatement and, upon the comma
pletion of said weed abatement, rendered an itemized report in
writing to the City Council showing the cost of removing the weeds
on or in front of each separate lot or parcel of land; and
WHEREAS, before the said itemized report was submitted to
the City Council., the Street Superintendent posted a copy of it
for at least three days on the bulletin board at the City Hall,
with a notice that the 14th day of November, 1960, at 7:30 P. M.
had been fixed as the time, and the Council Chambers in the City
Hall of the City of Newport Beach had been fixed as the place, for
submission of said report to the City Council for confirmation and
for hearing objections to the acceptance.of said work and the
assessment of the costs therefor against the parcels of land from
which the weed nuisance had been abated, and the required notice
I was given as provided for by Section 7424 of the Newport Beach
2 Municipal Code; and
3 WHEREAS, no objections to the acceptance of said work
4 and assessment of the costs therefor were submitted to the City
5 Council at said hearing;
6 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the itemized report
7 of the Street Superintendent of the City of Newport Beach showing
g the cost of removing the weeds on or in front of each separate
g lot or parcel of land designated therein, which report is attached
10 hereto as Exhibit 'A'° and made a part hereof, be and the same is

11 hereby confirmed and the cost of abating the nuisance in front of
12 or upon the various parcels as confirmed shall constitute a special
13 assessment against the respective parcels of land and shall be a
14 lien thereon until paid.

The above work has been completed in accordance with specifications
heretofore approved and it is hereby recommended that a date for hearing
all objections to such work be set for November 14, 1960 at 7 :30 o'clock P.M.,
in the Chambers of the City Council in the City Hall.
Attached hereto and made a part hereof, is a list of the parcels of
land on which work was done and the amounts of assessment to be levied
thereon.
NOTICE OF HEARING
NOTICE IS H Z^3v GIVL'N that on the 14th day of November, 1960, at the
hour of seven — thirty (7 :30) P.M. in the Chambers of the City Council in the
City Hall of the City of Newport Beach; any and all persons having any
objections to "Weed Abatement", under the provisions of Resolution No. 5300
of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, may appear and show cause
why said work should not be accepted by the City of Newport Beach and the
costs for said abatement assessed against the parcels of land from which
the weed nuisance has been abated.
