2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH PROVIDING FOR THE OPERATION.OF A
3 TEMPORARY PARKING LOT AND ESTABLISHING.FEES
THEREFOR

5 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is developing a parking)
6 lot on the former site of the Pacific Electric Company depot,

7 bounded on the east by Newport Boulevard, on the west by Balboa
I
8i Boulevard, on the north by 26th Street, and on the south by 23rd
9 Street; and
10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
11 has determined that said parking lot shall be operated by the City
12 during the summer of 1964 and that fees should be charged for the
13 use of the parking facilities provided thereon;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
15 11 Parking control shall be maintained on said parking
16 lot and a daily parking fee shall be charged for using said lot on
17 the following basis;
18 (a) The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department
19 shall commence operation of said parking lot and shall charge
20 fees for the use of the parking facilities on June 8, 1964,
21 or; thereafter on such date that the City Manager determines
22 that there is a need for parking control on said lot and that
23 the demand for parking will justify maintaining attendants
24 thereon, and shall discontinue the operation of the lot and
25 the collection of fees on the day after Labor Day, 1964, or on
26 any subsequent date during the month of September when the City
27 Manager determines that there is no longer a need for continued
28 operation of the lot by the City.
29 (b) The City Manager is authorized to determine the
30 hours of operation of the lot.
31 (c) During the period the lot is operated by the
32 City, the parking fees for each vehicle shall be 50¢ per day

I I on Mondays through Fridays, except on holidays, and $1.00
2 per day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
3 (d) The City Manager is also authorized to waive
41 the fees established herein when a special event is being
5 held of a charitable or civic nature and he determines that
6 it is in the interest of the City and the general public that
7 fees not be charged for the use of the parking lot in con -
8 nection with said special event.
