4 =.=S) The _Ionorable Robert Badham, Assemblyman for:
5 the 71st District, has introduced a bill in the California Assembly
6 which is designated Assembly Bill No. 2913; and
7 13TE SAS, The honorable John Schmitz, State Senator from
8 Orange County, is a coauthor of said Assembly Bill; and
9 WHEM E S, said Assembly Bill, if enacted into law, would
10 amend Section 301 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
11 California to delete from the State Highway System that portion of
12 Route 1, commonly referred to as the Pacific Coast highway, lying
13 between Route 39 south of Ixuntington :Beach and loute 73 south of
14 Newport Beach;

16 the City of Newport Beach hereby expresses its support for Assembly
17 Bill No. 2913 for the reason that the enactment into law of said
18 bill would aid the City of Newport ;each in its efforts to achieve
19 a relocation of the adopted coastal freeway route.
20 BE IT ;:UaTIV3 RESOL73D that the City Council commends
21 Assemblyman Badham and Senator Schmitz for their efforts to aid in
22 working out a lust and equitable solution to the freeway problem
23 in a mariner that will best serve the interests of the affected
24 communities and the taxpayers of the State,
25 13E IT TMT-Mil MMOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to
26 send copies of this resolution to assemblyman Badham, Senator
27 Schmitz, the Assembly Committee on Transportation and Commerce,
28 and such other individuals and agencies as the Mayor may direct.
