A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE.BOARD

OF .SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY.TO HAVE PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH EXCEPTED FROM

THE LEVY. OF ANY ORANGE COUNTY TAX TO PROVIDE
STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION

WHEREAS, the'City of Newport Beach is a municipal corpor-
6
ation incorporated and now existing under and by virtue of a charte
7
granted under the laws of the State of California; and
8
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach lies in the County of
9
Orange in the State of California, and maintains a fire department
10
with fire fighting equipment and with trained, competent personnel
11
under outstanding leadership, which said department has available
12
to it a water system with adequate pressure, circulated through
13
large trunk mains, all of which has resulted in the organized fire
14
department of the City providing adequate structural fire pro -
15
tection to all property within the corporate limits of said City;
16
and
17
WHEREAS, no additional benefit in fire protection is
18
received or required by such property from structural fire pro -
19
tection given by the County; and
20
WHEREAS, Section 25643 of the Government Code of the Stat,
21
of California provides for a petition supported by a resolution to
22
have property in an area such as the City of Newport Beach excepted
23
from the levy of any tax for the purpose of providing structural
24
fire protection on the part of the County in which such area is
25
located;
26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
27
the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes and directs a petition
28
to be presented to the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Orange
29
County, supported by a certified copy of this resolution, petition-
30
ing said County to comply with said Government Code Section 2563,
31
and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to

1 execute and attest and transmit said petition on behalf of the City
2 of Newport Beach.

City of Newport Beach filed and maintained in my office, the foregoing

adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council held at the
regular meeting place thereof, on the 14th day of March
