Changing Carnation Ave to One -Way
Between Coast Highway and 4th Ave
(Southbound Only)
New concepts include changing Carnation Avenue to One -
Way southbound between Coast Highway and 4th Ave.
Reasons for "One -Way" alternative:
Low volume of northbound traffic
Eliminates sight distance requirement for northbound traffic
c Creates possibility for 6 additional parking spaces on Carnation
Avenue
Provides increased landscaping and intersection treatment at
Carnation Ave and Coast Highway
Reduces distance for pedestrians to cross Carnation Avenue
Alternatives for Replacement of 8 lost
Parking Spaces on Coast Highway
Change Carnation Avenue to One -Way traffic
(addition of up to 5 parking spaces)
Consider modification of Old School Park to
create additional parking (up to 10 spaces)
Include replacement of 8 lost parking spaces
in upcoming Corona del Mar parking study
(prepared in partnership with CdM BID)

Work with BID representatives regarding
replacement of lost parking spaces on Carnation
Avenue and arrangements for truck deliveries
Include replacement of any lost parking spaces in
CdM pending Parking Study
Recommendations
Provide Direction to staff regarding:
— Funding for design of Corona Del Mar Entry
Improvements in FY 2013 -14 CIP Budget (estimate
cost $50,000)
Funding for construction of Corona Del Mar Entry
Improvements in future CIP Budget (estimated
cost $350,000)
