RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
. OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING REMOVAL OF STOP
CONTROLS ON IRVINE AVENUE AT CLAY STREET
WHEREAS, Section 12.36.010 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides that whenever an ordinance or resolution
designates and describes an intersection at which vehicles are
required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, the City
Traffic Engineer shall erect stop signs at those entrances of
such intersection where a stop is required, and every driver of
a vehicle shall stop at such intersection; and
WHEREAS, by resolution the City Traffic Engineer was
formerly authorized and directed to erect stop signs on Irvine
Avenue at both entrances to Clay Street; and
WHEREAS, investigation of traffic conditions has since
shown that in order to facilitate the movement of traffic and
prevent vehicular congestion of the streets, the stop controls
installed on Irvine Avenue at Clay Street should be removed,
and the City Council has determined that it is in the public
interest to do so;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the City Traffic Engineer is
hereby authorized and directed to remove the stop controls on
Irvine Avenue at Clay Street.
ADOPTED this 10th day of November, 1969.
