RESOLUTION NO. 8072
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH EXPRESSING A TOTAL COMMIT-
MENT TO CONTAINING AND REDUCING THE NOISE AND
POLLUTION FROM ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT
WHEREAS, on August 27, 1973, the matter of the nui-
sance created by the noise from the jet aircraft taking off
from Orange County Airport was again discussed by the City
Council and many concerned citizens were present in the
audience; and
WHEREAS, after thorough deliberation the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach unanimously resolved:
That the Council is totally committed to containing
and reducing the noise and pollution emanating from the Orange
County Airport.
It was further resolved that the Council will employ
every resource, including legal action, to protect the City
from the fate of Playa Del Rey and similar cities across the
country that have been devastated by noise from jet aircraft
because they waited too long to take action.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
instructed to mail copies of this resolution to each member of
the Orange County Board of Supervisors and to the Clerk of
said Board for inclusion on the next meeting agenda.
