RESOLUTION NO. 8262
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING CERTAIN
AMENDMENTS TO THE PLANNED COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT STANDARD FOR "NEWPORT PLACE"
SO AS TO ESTABLISH A PARKING REQUIREMENT
FOR HOTELS AND MOTELS BASED ON A DEMONSTRATED
FORMULA
. WHEREAS, Section 20.51.070 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides that amendments to the Planned
Community Development Standards must be approved by a resolution
of the Planning Commission and City Council setting forth full
particulars of the amendment; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission conducted a public
hearing on May 16, 1974, at which time it considered certain
amendments to the Planned Community Development Standards for
"Newport Place "; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing the Planning Commission
adopted Resolution No. 882 recommending to the City Council
that certain amendments to said Planned Community Development
Standards for "Newport Place ", so as to establish a parking
requirement for hotels and motels based on a demonstrated formula,
be adopted; and
WHEREAS, on June 10, 1974, the City Council conducted
a public hearing on the proposed amendments in accordance with all
provisions of law;
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that
certain amendments to said Planned Community Development
Standards as set forth in Amendment No. 429 are desirable and
necessary, to wit: requiring the applicant to provide a minimum
of 799 parking spaces which is a reduction of 149 spaces from
the 948 spaces, which would have otherwise been required under
the existing planned community development standards upon
condition that six months after the -Sheraton = N:ewportsHO.tel is in
full operation the Community Development Department staff will
review the adequacy of the parking. If the Community Development

Department find that the 799 parking spaces are not satisfactory,
the hotel owner will increase the number of spaces to 948, the
amount required under the original development standards.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
hereby approves the proposed amendments to the Planned Community
Development Standards for "Newport Place" as referred to
hereinabove.
