RESOLUTION NO. 8402
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING THE
RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE ELEMENT OF THE
NEWPORT BEACH GENERAL PLAN (AMENDMENT NO.
17)
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a Recreation
and Open Space Element of the General Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Recreation and Open Space Element sets
forth objectives and supporting policies which will serve as a
guide for the future planning and development of the City; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 707 of the City Charter
of the City of Newport Beach, the Planning Commission has held a
public hearing to consider an amendment to the Recreation and
Open Space Element which would delete the present language con-
tained in paragraphs 3 and 4 on pages 39 and 40 of said Element,
and which would substitute the following language in paragraph 3:
"The City will determine the desirable
maximum capacity of the beaches and explore
possible methods of limiting beach use to
this capacity in order to assure that over-
use does not destroy the recreational and
environmental value of the beaches,"
(General Plan Amendment No. 17); and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended to the
City Council said amendment to the Recreation and Open Space
Element of the Newport Beach General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing to
consider said amendment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach does hereby adopt General Plan Amendment
No. 17 as described hereinabove.
