A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE TO EXTEND THE TIME IN WHICH REVENUE
SHARING FUNDS SHALL BE DISBURSED OR ENCUMBERED
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RHINE WHARF PARK
• AND ACQUISITION OF INSPIRATION POINT PROPERTIES
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and the County of
Orange have entered into certain agreements executed the 24th
day of September, 1974 and April 8, 1975 respectively, for the
use of revenue sharing funds for the development of the Rhine
Wharf Park and the acquisition of two lots located in Corona
Del Mar commonly referred to as the Inspiration Point Properties;
and
WHEREAS, said agreements provide that the funds there-
under must be disbursed or encumbered on or before July 1, 1975;
and
WHEREAS, the development of the plans and specifications
for the Rhine Wharf project and the obtaining of the necessary
permits have been delayed and due to the delay caused by a review
of possible prescriptive rights in connection with the Inspiration
Point Properties, it will be impossible to have the funds committed
and encumbered by July 1, 1975; and
WHEREAS, it is undesirable to cause the improvement of
the Rhine Wharf Park during the summer months because of the
substantial influx of persons in the subject area; and
WHEREAS, there is legislation currently pending in
Sacramento which we provide matching funds for the purchase of the
Inspiration Point Properties; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is desirous of complet-
ing Rhine Wharf Park as originally proposed and acquiring the two
• Inspiration Point Properties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that the City of Newport Beach does hereby
request the County of Orange to extend the time for disbursing or
encumbering the revenue sharing funds for the construction and
a �
improvement of the Rhine Wharf Park and for the acquisition of the
Inspiration Point Properties from July 1, 1975 to January 1, 1976.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City
of Newport Beach shall transmit this Resolution to the Board of
Supervisors for the County of Orange for their consideration.
