A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION
TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF
GOVERNMENTS FOR A GRANT FROM THE LOCAL TRANS-
PORTATION FUND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BICYCLE
TRAIL IN THE WEST NEWPORT PARK ADJACENT TO COAST
HIGHWAY FROM THE SANTA ANA RIVER TO RIVER AVENUE
WHEREAS, through Senate Bill 821, there is available
for Orange County cities from the fiscal year 1974 -75 Local
Transportation Fund, $299,597 for the development of pedestrian
and bikeway facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of
Governments has been designated as the delegating agency for
these funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is desirous of
continuing the implementation of its adopted bikeways plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does authorize the application to
the Southern California Association of Governments for said
funds for which the City of Newport Beach is eligible;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds allocated to the
City of Newport Beach through said application shall be used for
the construction of bicycle trail facilities in the West Newport
Park adjacent to Coast Highway from the Santa Ana River to
River Avenue.
