RESOLUTION NO. 8582
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING HOUSE OF REPRESENTA-
TIVES BILL HR 7666 TO INCREASE AMOUNT OF OUTSIDE
EARNINGS LIMITATIONS UNDER SOCIAL SECURITY
WHEREAS, the House of Representatives has introduced
a Bill, HR 7666, in order to increase from $2400 to $4800 the
amount of outside earnings permitted each year without deductions
under the Social Security Act; and
WHEREAS, said Bill HR 7666 will help more than two and
a half million Americans, sixty -five years of age or older, to
meet the high cost of living; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
has determined that the provisions of HR 7666 would be beneficial
and in the best interests of its citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby express its wholehearted
support of HR 7666.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to send copies of this Resolution to the President of
the United States, United States Senators and Congressmen
representing this district, the League of California Cities, and
all cities in Orange County.
