HomeMy WebLinkAbout8908 - League of California Cities HeadquartersRESOLUTION NO. 8908 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AGREEING TO A SPECIAL ASSESS- MENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LEAGUE OF • CALIFORNIA CITIES HEADQUARTERS IN SACRAMENTO WHEREAS, the League of California Cities headquarters office has been located in Sacramento since 1969; and WHEREAS, it is critical to the League's effectiveness in Sacramento to have their offices located near the State Capitol building; and WHEREAS, the League's existing lease with the California State Employees' Association terminates in December, 1978; and WHEREAS, the options available are either to continue renting office facilities or construct a permanent headquarters office building in close proximity to the Capitol; and WHEREAS, the evidence seems to support the option of constructing a permanent facility which would be owned by all of the member cities; and WHEREAS, in order to raise the funds to pay for the construction costs, it will be necessary to levy a special assessment based on the existing dues structure; and WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach would be assessed $8,032.50 if payment is made in a single lump sum prior to August 1, 1977. • NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby agrees and consents to a special assessment, consistent with the building assessment schedule prepared by the League of California Cities which is BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council elects to be assessed by a lump sum payment with a ten percent (10 %) discount payable by August 1, 1977. ADOPTED this 12th day of October , 1976.
