A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ACCEPTING THE
NEGATIVE DECLARATION AND APPROVING AMEND-
MENTS TO THE LAND USE, RESIDENTIAL GROWTH
AND CIRCULATION ELEMENTS OF THE NEWPORT
• BEACH GENERAL PLAN (AMENDMENT NO. 77 -1)
WHEREAS, Section 707 of the Charter of the City of
Newport Beach provides that the City Council, upon recommendation
by the Planning Commission, may amend the General Plan, or any
part thereof; and
WHEREAS, the General plan of the City of Newport Beach
contains the Land Use, Residential Growth and Circulation
Elements which will serve as a guide for the future planning and
development of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has held a public
hearing at which time it considered certain amendments to the
Land Use, Residential Growth and Circulation Elements and adopted
Resolution No. 981, recommending to the City Council certain
changes in said amendments; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on
said General Plan amendment as recommended by the Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that
the proposed amendment will not have a significant effect on the
environment and desires to accept a Negative Declaration prepared
for said General Plan amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
hereby accepts the Negative Declaration on General Plan Amendment
No. 77 -1.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following described
amendment to the General Plan, and the various Elements thereof
be adopted, as follows:
77 -1 -A Amendment to the Land Use and Residential
Growth Elements to change the designation of five lots located
at 207 -215 - 19th Street on the Balboa Peninsula from "Two- Family
Residential" to "Multi- Family Residential."
77 -1 -B Amendment to the Circulation Element to delete
. the "Secondary Road - Four Lanes Undivided" designation for that
portion of Back Bay Drive between San Joaquin Hills Road and the
intersection of Back Bay Drive and Jamboree Road just north of
Pacific Coast Highway.
77 -1 -D Amendment to the Land Use Element expanding
the boundaries of the Corona del Mar Specific Area Plan area to
include residential areas north and south of Coast Highway.
77 -1 -F Amendment to the Land Use and Residential Growth
Elements to change the designation of four lots at the southeast
corner of Dahlia and Fifth Avenues in Corona del Mar from "Two- Family
Residential" to "Retail and Service Commercial" and "Administrative,
Professional, and Financial Commercial."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that proposed Amendment No. 77 -1 -E,
revising the definition of "buildable acreage" be referred back
to the Planning Commission for further consideration and report
to the City Council.
