• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF
SEASHORE DRIVE ON JULY 3, 4 AND 5, 1930, PUR-
SUANT TO CVC 921100
WHEREAS, each year during the Fourth of July week
huge throngs of visitors come to the beach area to join in
the celebration and festivities; and
WHEREAS, this large number of persons coming to
the beach causes extreme traffic congestion, especially along
Seashore Drive, making it almost impossible for emergency
vehicles to respond in this area; and
WHEREAS, Section 21100 of the California Vehicle
Code enables cities to adopt resolutions regulating traffic,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to
Section 21100 of the California Vehicle Code, the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby authorize the tempo-
rary closure of Seashore Drive from 33rd Street to Olive Street
between the hours of 6:00 p.m, and 3:00 a.m. on July 3, 4 and
5, 1980.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Newport Beach Police
Department is hereby authorized to make other closures on
July 3, 4 and 5, 1980, as it deems necessary for the protection
of life and property.
