• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE TO
AND ESTABLISHMENT OF PAY DIFFERENTIALS FOR
CERTAIN SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS WITHIN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has conducted a study of
various specialized assignments wihin the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, this study has established that the pay
differential for two existing assignments - Community Programs
Officer and Felony Unit Investigator, should be increased from
two and one -half percent (2 1/28) to five percent (58) to reflect
the additional skill, knowledge and responsibilities required of
personnel performing these duties; and
WHEREAS, the study further determined that a pay
differential should be established for an existing assignment -
Personnel Officer, commensurate with the additional compensation
paid for other special assignments, since the Personnel Officer
has additional responsibilities and possesses special skills and
knowledge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the pay differential for Police
Department employees assigned as the Community Programs Officer
and the employee assigned as the Felony Unit Investigator be
increased from two and one -half percent (2 1/28) base salary to
five percent (58) of the base salary of the employee so assigned;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a pay differential be
established for the Police Department employee assigned as
• Personnel Officer and that the pay differential be established at
five percent (58) of the employee so assigned.
ADOPTED this 28th day of September , 1981.
