82 -53
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL
EXPENSE ALLOWANCE TO THE MAYOR PRO TEM IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 404 OF THE CITY
CHARTER OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 404 of the City Charter of
the City of Newport Beach, the Mayor has received, in addition to
the payment for expenses as a Council Member under Section 402 B,
the amount of $243.19 per month; and
WHEREAS, Section 404 of the City Charter of the City of
Newport Beach mandates the Mayor Pro Tem to perform the duties of
the Mayor, during the latter's absence or disability; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor Pro Tem has been performing such
services since March 8, 1982 and as such is serving as Mayor
which entitles the Mayor Pro Tem to the additional payment for
expenses pursuant to the City Charter'.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, approves and authorizes payment of the
additional expense allowance of $243..19 to the Mayor Pro Tem,
effective as of March 8, 1982 until such time as the Mayor is no
longer absent from the peformance of duties, signified by a
return to regular Council meetings.
