RESOLUTION NO. 83-37
A RESOLUTION URGING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A
SEPARATE CITY LIBRARIANS' DEPARTMENT WITHIN
THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities was established
in 1898 to foster and facilitate quality municipal government within
the State of California; and
WHEREAS, said League has immutably evolved into an ac-
claimed forum for excellence in government representing most profes-
sional municipal administrators; and
WHEREAS, for more than a century public librarians have
proudly and effectively served millions of municipal residents of
said state by providing the materials, information and professional
guidance necessary for their educational, informational, and spiritual
well- being; and
WHEREAS, said librarians have regrettably not been offi-
cially represented within the League's Divisions or Departments to
date; and
WHEREAS, such exclusion has resulted in a multitude of
irretrievable opportunities for vital and necessary communication
between library administrators and their counterparts within the
existing League;
