WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach, and the City of
Okazaki, Aichi, Japan, have established a Sister Club Association
to further mutual interests; and
WHEREAS, representatives from each City have initiated
a relationship to exchange ideas, sociological and cultural
concepts, and have found a mutual appreciation of art and
customs; and
WHEREAS, a continuing exchange of students and business
representatives now exist; and
WHEREAS, a continuing exchange of art and related
endeavors has been developed between each other's elementary
schools; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Newport Beach
to further expand this cultural, educational and social
understanding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach extends the hand of friendship to
Okazaki City by asking Okazaki City to become its Sister City.
ADOPTED this 24th day of _Sept. , 1984.
