A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 7 TO THE
NEWPORT BEACH LOCAL COASTAL PROGRAM LAND USE PLAN
FOR 3901 EAST COAST HIGHWAY IN CORONA DEL MAR.
• WHEREAS, the Coastal Act of 1976 requires the City of
Newport Beach to prepare a local coastal program; and
WHEREAS, as a part of the development and implementation of
the Coastal Act, a Local Coastal Program Land Use Plan has been
prepared; and
WHEREAS, said Land Use Plan sets forth objectives and
supporting policies which serve as a guide for the future development
in the coastal zone in the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and City Council held a
public hearing to consider a certain amendment to the Local Coastal
Program Land Use Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach prepared an Initial Study
and Negative Declaration in compliance with the California Environ-
mental Quality Act, the State CEQA Guidelines and City Policy K -3; and
WHEREAS, the City Council reviewed and considered the information
contained in the Environmental Document in making its decision on the
proposed amendment to the Newport Beach General Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that the Local Coastal Program Land Use Plan be
amended for certain property illustrated on Exhibit 1 attached hereto
and located at 3901 East Coast Highway, Corona del Mar, as follows:
Change the land use designation from "Low Density Residen-
tial" and "Retail and Service Commercial" to a mixture of
"Multi - Family Residential" and "Administrative, Professional
and Financial Commercial" with specific use limited to
senior citizen housing facilities; with the direction that
the property be re -zoned to the Planned Community District
with a Use Permit as the Planned Community Development Plan.
