A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
• OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO MODIFY THE
TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF COAST
HIGHWAY AND MARGUERITE AVENUE SO AS TO PROVIDE
SEPARATE LEFT TURN PHASING FOR MARGUERITE
AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the intersection of Coast Highway and
Marguerite Avenue is under the jurisdiction of the California
Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, there is considerable left -turn traffic on
Marguerite Avenue at certain times; and
WHEREAS, the raised medians on Coast Highway are wider
than normal and create confusion for motorists turning left from
Marguerite.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, that the California Department of
Transportation be requested to modify the traffic signal at Coast
Highway and Marguerite Avenue to provide separate left -turn
phasing for Marguerite Avenue.
