HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-83 - City Council Chambers RenovationRESOLUTION NO. 90- 83 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING THAT THE RENOVATION OF CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED MORE ECONOMICALLY BY THE PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES AND SERVICES ON THE OPEN MARKET AND WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING. • WHEREAS, the City Council has decided to renovate the Council Chambers and Conference Room by, among other things, replacing carpet, recovering seats, installing new wall covering and hanging new drapes; and WHEREAS, the Newport Beach City Charter provides that the City Council may, by resolution, determine that competitive bidding is not required for public works projects that can be performed better and more economically with supplies or services purchased on the open market rather than through the competitive bidding process; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has obtained and approved estimates for the work to be performed and the estimates are attached to this Resolution as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and considered the estimates approved by the City Manager and has determined that the renovation of the City Council Chambers and Conference Room would be performed better and more economically by the direct purchase of supplies, materials and services on the open market rather than through the competitive bidding process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the renovation and remodeling of the City Council Chambers and Conference Room shall • be accomplished by the direct purchase of supplies, materials and services on the open market in a manner consistent with the sum budgeted for the project and without advertising for bids or otherwise utilizing the competitive bidding process. • 0 APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 23rd DAY OF July , 1990.
