RESOLUTION NO. 92- 139
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SUPPORTING THE FEDERAL MANDATE RELIEF
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach in recent years has experienced
significant revenue shortfalls; and
WHEREAS, revenue shortfalls are resulting in reduced services and
fewer capital improvements to benefit the residents of the City of Newport
Beach;and
WHEREAS, continual mandates by state and federal governments
require additional expenditures by the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, continual federal mandates will result in major reductions
of essential services to the residents and businesses of Newport Beach.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach supports the Federal Mandate Relief Act of 1993 as
proposed by Congressman Condit to require the federal government to
reimburse local governments for the total amount of direct costs incurred in
complying with certain requirements enacted pursuant to a federal statute or
regulation.
ADOPTED this 14th day of December 1992.
