RESOLUTION NO. 94-60
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
INCLUDING SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach City Charter, the Newport Beach
Municipal Code and the policies adopted by the City Council provide
that the City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the
City and is responsible for the administration of the annual budget
and the preparation of rules relative to the contracting for goods,
equipment and services;
WHEREAS, effective administration of City government requires
the City Manager to have the authority to execute contracts for the
acquisition of goods, equipment and services; and
WHEREAS, the City has routinely contracted for supplemental
law enforcement services during the Fourth of July holiday and
various agencies require the City Manager have specific authority
to execute appropriate agreements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach as follows:
SECTION 1:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute all contracts
on behalf of the City involving the purchase of goods or equipment,
the retention of consultants to provide special services and the
retention of services to supplement City services, including,
without limitation, police, fire, general services and utilities
provided the contract price does not exceed #30,000;
SECTION 2:
The City Manager is specifically authorized to execute, on
behalf of the City, any agreement with the California Highway
Patrol, or any police department in the State of California, for
supplemental law enforcement services during the Fourth of July
holiday or any other occasion; and

SECTION 3•
The terms and conditions of this resolution are deemed
supplemental to any other authority, power or right granted to the
City Manager pursuant to the City Charter, or any ordinance, rule,
resolution or policy adopted by the Newport Beach City Council.
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach as follows:
ADOPTED, this 27th day of June , 1994.
