A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING ADMINISTRATIVE
POLICE JAIL BOOKING FEES.
WHEREAS, State law authorizes the County of Orange to charge
• cities for the costs of booking arrestees into Orange County Jails.
WHEREAS, Upon conviction following arrest, Government Code
§29550.1 permits cities to recover from the arrestee, booking fees
the cities pay to the County.
WHEREAS, Government Code 929550.3 permits cities to recover
costs for booking arrestees in local city jails upon the conviction
of any charge related to the arrest.
WHEREAS, The County of Orange currently charges the City of
Newport Beach $176.00 for each prisoner booked into a county jail.
WHEREAS, It costs the City of Newport Beach approximately
$150.00 in administrative costs to process and book a prisoner in
the Newport Beach City Jail.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach, that the following schedule of fees for
processing arrestees, as authorized by California Government Code,
is established as follows:
1.
County booking fees:
$176.00 per
booking.
2.
City administrative
booking costs:
$150.00.
ADOPTED, this 12th day of June, 1995.
