A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ELIMINATING
EIGHT COMMITTEES PREVIOUSLY CREATED
BY THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach values the community
input and dialogue created by the boards, committees, and commissions within the City
that involve residents, interested business persons, and Council members; and
WHEREAS, the creation of boards, commissions and committees helps the City
Council obtain background, history and citizen perspectives on the issues brought
before these bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to maintain a list of active boards, commissions
and committees that is current and serves valuable purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted the following resolutions creating
the eight committees: Resolution No. 97 -66 [Ad Hoc Committee to Promote the
Revitalization of the Balboa Peninsula]; Resolution No. 97 -52 [City School Ad Hoc
Committee]; Resolution No. 2004 -75 [Neighborhood Traffic Calming Ad Hoc
Committee]; Resolution No. 2006 -61 [1/1 Memorial Committee]; Resolution No. 2008 -50
[City Clerk Ad Hoc Recruitment Committee]; Resolution No. 2008 -51 [City Attorney Ad
Hoc Recruitment Committee]; Resolution No. 2003 -57 [Santa Ana River Crossings
(SARX) Ad Hoc Committee]; and minute action taken on November 9, 1998 [Oil and
Gas Field Operations Committee].
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach that it hereby reaffirms its appreciation for the work done by the committees that
are being eliminated or sunsetted, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the above named committees are hereby
disbanded effective immediately and all resolutions and actions establishing the
committees and extending the terms are hereby repealefiK

I, Leilani I. Brown, City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach, California, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council is seven; that the foregoing resolution,
being Resolution No. 2008 -101 was duly and regularly introduced before and adopted by the City
Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 9th day of
December 2008, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote, to wit:
Ayes: Henn, Rosansky, Daigle, Webb, Curry, Gardner, Mayor Selich
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstain: None
