DISCUSSION: The Principal at Newport Elementary School has requested the City change the hours of the street sweeping on Balboa Boulevard between 13th and 14th Streets. The current NO PARKING restrictions for street sweeping are Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Principal has stated that many parents are involved in classroom activities and teacher discussions that can go past 8:30 a.m. The requested change in the start time for the street sweeping to 9:00 a.m. will facilitate these on- campus activities. Transportation Engineer Attachment: Resolution \ \MIS_1 \SYS \Users \PBW\ Shared \COUNCIL \FY98- 99\April -12 \Street Sweeping.doc RESOLUTION NO. 99- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING "NO PARKING' RESTRICTIONS ON DESIGNATED STREETS ON SPECIFIC DAYS AND TIMES TO IMPROVE STREET SWEEPING EFFECTIVENESS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 98 -68. WHEREAS, Section 12.44.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that the City Council shall by Resolution designate streets or portions of streets on which the parking or standing of vehicles is to be prohibited. The City Council shall designate in the Resolution the days of the week and the exact hours during which such prohibition shall be in effect; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is reasonable and in the public interest to prohibit parking of vehicles at certain times and in certain areas of the City in order to effectively operate the City street sweeping program;
