SUBJECT: Planning Commission's Recommendations Regarding Public Input on
Newport Center Planning
SUGGESTED
ACTION: Accept recommendation to receive public input at Planning
Commission Study Sessions and other public meetings.
The Planning Commission General Plan Update Committee has continued to explore the
advantages of a public survey and other methods for receiving public input on long -range
planning for Newport Center. They have concluded that a survey is not the best method to use at
this time, and are recommending instead that the Commission hold study sessions and other
public meetings to receive public input as the planning process progresses. As issues emerge and
alternative scenarios are developed, the Committee may wish to consider the use of other
methods, including a survey, if appropriate at that time.
