CITY COUNCIL AGENDA
ITEM NO._L
TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: Public Works Department
SUBJECT: RESUBDIVISION NO. 980 - THE SHERATON HOTEL SITE
LOCATION: 4545 MacArthur Boulevard, located on the southwesterly corner of
MacArthur Boulevard and Birch Street, in the Newport Place Planned
Community
DEVELOPER: Larken, Inc., Cedar Rapids, Iowa
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the City Clerk to release the faithful performance bond and labor and material
bond (Bond No. 82442049).
DISCUSSION:
Resubdivision No. 980 required the developer of the Sheraton Hotel site to post a bond
for a period of five years to guarantee dedication of the right -of -way along MacArthur
Boulevard for a future bus turn -out if needed. The developer has requested the bonds
be released. Five years have passed and the Orange County Transit Authority does
not need the bus turn -out.
The Public Works Department recommends the bonds be released.
An exhibit is attached for reference.
