A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF COSTA
MESA FOR THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY'S (OCTA) MEASURE M2 TRAFFIC SIGNAL
SYNCHRONIZATION PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE FAIR DRIVE -
DEL MAR AVENUE - UNIVERSITY AVENUE STREET CORRIDOR
SYNCHRONIZATION PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Measure M2 Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program
targets over 2000 signalized intersections across Orange County to maintain traffic
signal synchronization, improve traffic flow, and reduce congestion across jurisdictions;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has been declared by the Orange County
Transportation Authority to meet the eligibility requirements to receive revenues as part
of Measure M2: and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has a currently adopted Local Signal
Synchronization Plan consistent with the Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Master
Plan as a key component of the local agencies' efforts to synchronizing traffic signals
across local agencies' boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach will not use Measure M2 funds to
supplant Developer Fees or other commitments;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council supports the application by the City of Costa Mesa
for OCTA Measure M2 Traffic Signal Synchronization Program funding for the Fair
Drive -Del Mar Avenue - University Avenue Traffic Signal Synchronization Project.
Section 2. The City of Newport Beach agrees to provide matching funds for the
Primary Implementation and Ongoing Maintenance and Monitoring of the project
corridor as required by the Comprehensive Transportation Funding Programs
Procedures and Policies Manual.
Section 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
adopted at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach on this
25th day of November, 2014.
