CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
POLICE DEPARTMENT
June 26, 2001
TO: Honorable Mayor, Members of the City Council and City Manager
From: Bob McDonell, Chief of Police
Subject: Resolution for California Highway Patrol Training
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the attached Resolution granting authority to the Chief of Police to sign
training agreements with the California Highway Patrol.
BACKGROUND:
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) offers training courses to peace officers
throughout the State of California. A requirement for each agency sending
officers to the training is a resolution from the City Council authorizing the Chief
of Police to sign training agreements on behalf of the City. Currently the
Department has applied to send an officer to a Commercial Enforcement class
offered by the CHP, necessitating the updated agreement with the State agency.
Respectfully submitted,
Bob McDonell
