This is a Preliminary report as required in accordance with the Southern California Eelgrass Mitigation Policy (SCEMP) since eelgrass is widely distributed throughout Southern California Coastal and Harbor Regions. Day was clear and sunny with few clouds; temperatures ranged in the high 60°s F. Water temperature was 61° F. Depth ranged from 5 ft to approximately 9 ft just past end of dock (low tide). Visibility was good, reaching 15 ft. Survey area delineated spanning 50 ft to 30 ft to cover all shade and impact areas of the existing dock. Survey conducted with divers spaced 1-3 ft apart perpendicular to shoreline. Lane width was approximately 5 ft wide scanning approximately 2 ft on either side, covering the entire area to ensure >75% coverage of bay floor. Survey Findings No Caulerpa was observed (see attached Caulerpa Survey Reporting Form). No Eelgrass was observed within or adjacent to property near or under neighbors docks (see Figure 2). Visibility was good. The water depth ranged from the 5 - 9 ft at end of dock. Figure 2. There was no eelgrass under the dock or forward from the shore from beginning of dock on either side up to about 6 feet away from dock (see Figure 3). This preliminary survey can serve as the baseline for subsequent surveys and can be compared against future survey's. Figure 3. The form has been designed to assist in any potential impacts of the authorized actions on the spread of Caulerpa. Surveys required to be conducted for this species are subject to modification through publication of revisions to the Caulerpa survey policy.
