SUBJECT: RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REGARDING
THE NAME OF THE ANAHEIM ANGELS
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the resolution which supports the City of Anaheim's efforts to retain the name
• "Anaheim Angels" for our Orange County major league baseball team.
DISCUSSION:
At the Orange County Division meeting of the League of California Cities on November
19th, Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle asked all Orange County cities to adopt the attached
resolution regarding the name /renaming of the Anaheim Angeles baseball team. He
intends to provide all the resolutions adopted by Orange County cities to Angel owner
Artie Moreno, and believes that it could make a difference. With the enjoyment and
pride that many Newport Beach residents have in attending and watching Angel games
both in person and on television, the City Manager felt is appropriate to bring this
resolution forward for City Council consideration.
