RE: Burning of Wood in Newport Beach's Fire Rings — Modification
Pursuant to Newport Beach Municipal Code Section 11.08.060 (B), this
memorandum is intended to update and amend the notification that I provided
on March 11, 2014 regarding fuel for beach fire rings.
I hereby notify the public that, starting January 13, 2015, natural wood (as
defined by NBMC Section 11.080.060[C]) may be burned in the beach fire rings
that are separated from each other by at least 100' and that are cement colored.
No other materials except natural wood or charcoal can be burned in these beach
fire rings.
Only charcoal may be burned in the beach fire rings that are painted green and
designated as "Charcoal Only" in stencil.
This is to comply with Rule 444 of the South Coast Air Quality Management
District.
For more information, please see the City's web page on Fire Rings.
If you have any questions about this notification, please do not hesitate to contact
me at 949 - 644 -3001.
