SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NO. _ FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A
STOP SIGN ON PARK GREEN DRIVE AT SANDCASTLE DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution requiring all traffic on Park Green Drive to stop at Sandcastle Drive.
DISCUSSION:
The Harbor View Hills South Homeowners Association has expressed concerns
regarding traffic speeds and safety on Park Green Drive. Park Green Drive is centrally
located within the neighborhood, and provides direct access from Marguerite Avenue to
many streets and residences in Harbor View Hills. In addition, a community
greenbelt/park exists adjacent to Park Green Drive.
The Homeowners Association has specifically requested the installation of a STOP sign
on Park Green Drive eastbound at Sandcastle Drive. This request was discussed at the
Traffic Affairs Committee (TAC) meeting on October 12, 2005. The Committee did
agree to the installation of the STOP sign, on the basis that providing STOP control
should improve safety at the intersection by reducing conflicting movements. A
secondary benefit could be reduction of speeds on Park Green Drive, which is the
objective of the Homeowners Association.
Environmental Review:
Categorically Exempt under Chapter 3, Article 19, Section 15301, Class 1(c) of Title 14,
California Code of Regulations. Exemption for the operation of existing facilities.
