The successful applicant will be appointed to fill the balance of the unexpired term, which expires on June 30, 2009. DISCUSSION: At the Regular Meeting of November 28, 2006 the City Council declared the position vacant and directed the City Clerk to advertise the vacancy pursuant to Council Policy A -2. Mayor Rosansky, Mayor Pro Tem Selich and Council Member Webb were appointed as the Ad Hoc Appointments Committee. The deadline to apply was Thursday, December 21, 2006. At the conclusion of the application period the applications were forwarded to the committee for their review and scheduling of interviews. Confirm the Mayors appointment of , and to serve on the Ad -Hoc Appointments Committee. 3. Direct the City Clerk to post and publish a Special Vacancy Notice requesting that applications be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006, and schedule the submission of the nominations to the Council on January 9, 2007 with the final appointment to be made on January 23, 2007. DISCUSSION: Background: On Tuesday, November 7, 2006, Michael Henn was elected to the District 1 seat on City Council and will be sworn into office on Tuesday, December 12, 2006. Mr. Henn was appointed to a four -year term on the Planning Commission effective July 1, 2005. His term expires on June 30, 2009, therefore an appointment will need to be made to fill his unexpired term. Pursuant to Council Policy A -2, I have prepared a Special Vacancy Notice for posting and publication of the unscheduled vacancy. As per the notice, applications will be accepted by the City Clerk's office until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006. At the close of the application period, I will forward the current applications on file, as well • as any new applications, to the newly- appointed ad -hoc appointments committee for them to review and conduct any necessary interviews.
