Routes for Newport Beach Water -Buses
Could be like this:
Clockwise and Counter - clockwise
29 potential stops
A bus system with too few buses
will not be successful.
You have to be sure that if you miss the bus,
another will come along in a few minutes.
Public docks accessible
by these commercial vessels only
Businesses wanting Water
Buses to stop at their venue
could pay the City a monthly
fee which go towards
the City Subsidy of the
Water -Buses
Water Taxi "On Call" Service

a Service provided by Rental Fleets

OR the current rental fleets could just add a few Learboats to
their fleets so that their drivers could answer the calls as well.
The rental fleets make the profit; the water -taxi revenue could be
viewed as the marketing expense of the rental fleet. It potentially
would generate return customers for the rental fleet.
According to the 2009 Water -Taxi
Feasibility study
all the Water -Bus /Taxi businesses
are all PRIVATELY OWNED.
Many are subsidized by their city.
Local Tour Operators could form a consortium to
own the Water - Buses.
That way they would be able to control that the
Water -Buses do not compete with their Tour Buses
Commercial financing could be obtained for the vessels.
Possible solution to access public docks :
Newport Beach TAX Medallion would be clearly
marked on all vessels which approach public
docks.
Newport Beach TAX Medallions could be free to
these vessels.

Design Criteria for Water -Buses to be
determined:
Could be Forty feet long, Seat 26 or more, have
Twin Propulsion Systems, Lithium Iron Phosphate
Batteries, bow thrusters, rear loading, ADA
adjustable ramp, Bicycle ready, ergonomic extra-
comfort seating, restrooms, Lithium Iron
Phosphate Batteries,
could be beautifully wrapped with Newport
Beach LOGO and pictures of Dolphins, surfers
riding the waves, whales and sea stars.
The Newport Beach Water -Bus system
could help to increase in city revenues from advertising
and dock fees
Plus could help increase revenues for businesses
and ultimately the city.
Water Buses could be reliable source for year- around
revenue generation
on and beyond the end of the 21St Century.
