Mathewson 29 Harbor Island Newport Beach, CA 92660 Re: Harbor Permit 143-29 for pier and slip bayward of 29 Harbor Island Dear Ms. Mathewson: The City of Newport Beach has received complaints regarding the use of your residential pier and float bayward of the above address. Specifically, the complaints state that the pier and float are being used in violation of Section 1.A of the Harbor Permit Policies, which states: 1.A. "Shore connected piers and floats bayward of residential zoned areas shall be reserved for the occupants of the abutting upland property and controlled by the Harbor Permittee. Vessels moored at residential piers shall not create a nuisance with regard to vehicle parking, vessel waste, liveaboards, or noise disturbances to ad- joining residents." To avoid further action being taken by the Marine Department, the situation existing at your pier and float must be corrected; vessels moored at your residential pier should cease creating a nuisance with regard to maintenance operations and persons coming and going, as well as noise and parking nuisances created by the use of your facility.
