SUBJECT: Recommendation from Economic Development Committee to fill EDC vacancies.
ISSUE:
Fill two current vacancies on Economic Development Committee.
1. Fill current Economic Development Committee vacancy by appointing Ms. Sim as the
Newport Center representative; and
2. Fill current Economic Development Committee vacancy by confirming Ms. Sheri Drewry as
the representative from the restaurant industry.
DISCUSSION:
At their regular meeting of July 18, 2007, the Economic Development Committee recommended
that Ms. Danielle Sim be appointed to the EDC as the Newport Center representative. Ms. Sim is
senior vice president of operations for The Irvine Company Office Properties, and responsible for
the company's office portfolio that includes Newport Center. She will fill a long- vacant position last
filled by Mr. Richard Wray.
At the same meeting, the EDC recommended that Ms. Sheri Drewry be appointed as the
representative from the Newport Beach restaurant industry, as she is the new president of the
Newport Beach Restaurant Association, replacing Mr. Dan Marcheano, whose term as president
has expired.

DANIELLE SIM
Senior Vice President, Office Properties
Danielle Sim is senior vice president of operations for The Irvine
Company Office Properties. The Irvine Company is a century-old,
privately held company best known for its comprehensive focus on
quality of life in the balanced, sustainable communities it has
planned and developed on the Irvine Ranch in Orange County,
California.
Ms. Sim is responsible for all operations of The Irvine Company's
32M s.f. office portfolio, which consists of 106 high -rise office and 320 two and three -
story campus -office buildings and includes such properties as the 5,000 -acre Irvine
Spectrum, Newport Center, Jamboree Center and University Research Park, all in
Orange County. Other prominent properties include McCarthy Center In Silicon Valley,
800 W. Broadway, Symphony Towers and Well Fargo Plaza in San Diego, and Fox
Plaza and Westwood Gateway in West Los Angeles.
Before joining The Irvine Company in February 2001, Ms. Sim served as managing
director at Insignia /ESG, where she oversaw the operations of a 25- million square foot
portfolio, which included projects in Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
Danielle joined Insignia /ESG in 1989. Her contributions include the establishment of
standard policies and procedures for all aspects of portfolio transactions; internal and
external, throughout Northern and Southern California. In addition, she was charged
with spearheading the efforts to strategically re- engineer the various operating
departments following Insignia's acquisition of O'Donnell Property Services in 1995.
In May 2003, Ms. Sim oversaw the transition of moving all management functions in-
house, along with bringing 250 employees on board at The Irvine Company in the areas
of finance, construction, engineering and property management. This endeavor was in
line with the company's effort to better promote company values and superior. service.
Ms. Sim has directed the development of the Customer Committed (C2) initiative, an all -
encompassing program designed to provide world class quality and service to The
Irvine Company customers.
Ms. Sim believes that all business success is merely a by- product of her great team.
She is passionate about developing optimal work environments, fostering career
progression for team members, and helping to promote a thriving corporate culture.
Ms. Sim is a graduate of San Diego State University and holds a California real estate
license. She is a member of the BOMA Orange County Advisory Board.

Wilma's Patio on Balboa Island
Newport Beach, CA — The Newport Beach Restaurant Association (NBRA) is proud to
announce its first female President, Sheri Drewry of Wilma's Patio. A native Southern
Californian, Drewry has been firmly entrenched in all aspects of the restaurant industry
and Newport Beach community for over 25 years. This year, their popular family owned
restaurant will be celebrating it's 25`n anniversary as a favorite eatery to both locals and
visitors alike on Balboa Island. Operated by Wilma Staudinger and family, they are
known for casual family dining with a warm atmosphere and something delicious for
everyone.
Sheri and her mother "Wilma" have been involved with the NBRA since inception of the
organization in 1996. Most recently, Sheri served a full -term as NBRA Vice President
under Past President, Dan Marcheano from 2004 -2007. Since 2001 she has been an active
Board Member and relishes the opportunity to serve the City's restaurateurs as President.
Drewry, who also serves on the Marine Avenue Business Improvement District Board of
Directors, looks forward to leading the NBRA to increase participation and support the
economic development of the restaurant industry in Newport Beach.
Sheri is an active supporter of the Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure and Newport
Beach Relay For Life. She and husband David have one daughter, Leslie, who is fifteen.
