DISCUSSION Newport Coast Community Center (NCCC) will open to the public on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. For the fall season, the Center is scheduled to have 175 sessions of classes, 30 monthly meetings, special events, musicals and theater production. As the construction phase concludes, it is time to furnish and equip the facility. The funds for this purchase are budgeted in the project account. The specified equipment is presently out to bid. The bids will be opened in late August. Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager administrative authority to purchase equipment prior to the September 15, 2007 dedication ceremony. Below is a list by area that demonstrates the upgraded features the equipment would provide: • Stage — Professional sound and lighting that would be utilized by local performing groups, Arts Commission, local schools and large assemblies and City classes. Also, the stage will have a LCD projector which would facilitate movies and PowerPoint presentations in the gym. • Gym — The sound system will be used to play music during sporting events, teen nights, exercise classes, etc. The system can be also used as a public address system. • Meeting Rooms — All meetings rooms are wired for technology and sound. Each room is capable of playing music for exercise, dance, youth classes or as a public address system for trainings, speakers, etc. Two of the meeting rooms will be equipped with LCD Projectors and drop down PowerPoint Screens. A portable TV and VCR/DVD and overhead projector will be available on an A/V cart. Funding Availability: $115,000 will be encumbered in the FF &E Account for NCCC account #7019- 05100977.
