Notifying Local Artists!
There is still time and space to sign up for the 2013 Newport Beach Art Exhibition and Sale. The event will
take place on Saturday, April 13 at Oasis Senior Center. Arts Commmission Secretary, Carole Boller is chairing
this event, with a huge amount of help from Commissioners Arlene Greer and Caroline Logan.
This is a great chance for local artists to show and possibly sell their art! The exhibition, in addition to being
adjudicated (with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Awards in painting/mixed media, photography and sculpture) will be
open to the public from 1-6pm on the 13th. Hope to see everyone there!
Artists may preregister by downloading the Registration Form on the City website:
www.newportbeachca.gov under Departments/Cultural Arts. Specifications for showing artwork are listed

Bees”A- Children’s Poems for You and Me by author and illustrator, Chip Fesko.
This book is a wonderful collection of 15 original poems and watercolors for K-5
readers. Little listeners will have a chance to meet Chip and learn how he writes
and paints original poems and watercolor illustrations for children and their
parents. In addition, the poems will be narrated by the enchanting English
actress, Eila Ulyett. Eila will bring this treasure-trove of poems and beautiful
illustrations to life on the screen. Staff will share recipes for making your own
firefly jar full of light!
Chip Fesko is an artist and writer from Newport Beach, California who lives on the Back Bay. He has his
Master’sADegreeAinAjournalismAfromASyracuseAUniversityAwhereAheAalsoAstudiedAgraphicAdesignAandA
advertising. For the past 6 years he has been the Sr. Director of Advertising for the George Lucas
Educational Foundation (www.edutopia.org) and before that, worked for Scholastic Publishing.

for Apple iPADs, it includes interactive text links to Wikipedia for children to explore worlds far beyond the
poems themselves. The poems are narrated by British Actress, Eila Ulyett, who also lives in Newport Beach. It
