Concerts In The Park:
On Sunday, July 28, at 6PM, the second Concert in the Park was held in the new Civic Center Green. A crowd
estimated at 2000 enjoyed the music of tribute band Springsteen: The Premier Tribute to the Boss. The Civic
Center Green has proven to be an excellent venue for the concerts.
On Sunday, August 11, at 6pm, Upstream, a band originating in the republic of Trinidad and Tobago, plays an
energetic blend of “Island Music,” influenced by Reggae, Techno, Funk, Hip Hop and Soca. Upstream includes
three sons of the venerable originator of Soca music, the late Ras Shorty I. The group has been the opener
for acts such as REM, Dave Matthews Band, The Wailers, Harvey Danger, Inner Circle, Wailing Souls and
Jimmy Buffett to name a few.
Shakespeare in the Park:
The Newport Beach City Arts Commission once again presented a weekend of lively Shakespearean
entertainment with two different productions at the Bonita Canyon Sports Park. On Saturday, July 20,
