Re: Sober Living By The Sea (Use Permit No. 2005 -031)
Dear Aaron:
I am writing this letter on behalf of my client, Sober Living By The Sea, with
reference to the appeal of Use Permit No. 2005 -031 ( "CUP") currently pending for hearing
before the City Council at their meeting on June 27, 2006.
The City has made a determination that conducting large group meetings at the
Sober Living By The Sea facilities at 281.1 Villa Way in the Cannery Village, is classified as a
"social club" and therefore requires a CUP. On May 26, 2006. and then on June 7, 2006, I met
with you and other senior City staff members to review in concept a plan to modify the
operational characteristics of the Sober Living By The Sea facilities at 2811 Villa Way.
In order to allow time fer Sober Living By The Sea to retain a professional
consultant to prepare the drawings for the reconfiguration of the facility and finalize a revised
operation plan, I am respectfully requesting that the hearing on the appeal of the CUP before the
City Council be continued for an additional 60 days. 1 am confident that Sober Living By The
Sea will be able to submit a plan that will be acceptable to the City and we believe will
significantly reduce community concerns relating to their operations in the Cannery Village.
Very truly yours. 1
