DISCUSSION: Amano McGann is the manufacturer and single source vendor of the equipment currently in use at the City owned Balboa Parking Lot. Previously, Amano McGann purchased ASSI Security which had been the Amano distributor for the Orange County area. The last equipment replacement was completed by ASST who had also been doing an excellent job maintaining the equipment for the past seven years. By dealing directly with the manufacturer, Amano McGann, the City is able to purchase the equipment for $10,000 less than we did seven years ago during the Balboa Village Construction Project. We preferred to use Amano McGann in order to maintain continual operation of the Balboa Parking Lot and to minimize any possible compatibility issues that may arise if we were to use another company or equipment.
