SUBJECT: CORPORATION YARD BUILDING "G" ROOF REHABILITATION —
COMPLETION AND ACCEPTANCE OF CONTRACT NO. 3966
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Accept the completed work.
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion.
3. Authorize the City Clerk to release the Labor and Materials bond 35 days after
the Notice of Completion has been recorded in accordance with applicable
portions of the Civil Code.
4. Release the Faithful Performance Bond 1 year after Council acceptance.
DISCUSSION:
On May 27, 2008 the City Council authorized the award of the Corporation Yard
Building "G" Roof Rehabilitation project to Pre -Fab Builders, Inc. The contract provided
for removing and reinstalling of the existing metal roof, removing deteriorated metal roof
members, gutter and flashing, installing new roof members, gutter and flashing, painting
exposed roof members and installing bird netting under roof. The contract has now
been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department. A summary of the
contract cost is as follows:
Original bid amount: $118,592.00
Actual amount of bid items constructed: $118,614.00
Total amount of change orders: $ 4.200.00
Final contract cost: $122,814.00
The final overall construction cost including Change Orders was 3.5% percent over the
original bid amount.

One Change Order in the amount of $4,200 provided for the removal of some additional
pieces of roof that were deteriorated.

Environmental Review:
The project was determined to be exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA) pursuant to Section 15301 of the CEQA Implementing Guidelines at the time
the project was authorized by the City Council. This exemption covers the repair,
maintenance and minor alteration of existing public facilities with negligible expansion.
