Despite our best efforts and expenditure of HOA funds, we need the city's help with the
enforcement of "no parking" firelanes within our community.
Pacific Ridge
Neighborhood #64
Located at the end of Ridge Park, south of Newport Coast Drive.
Eastern/southern boundaries along the Irvine Conservancy protected wilderness, provides
multiple fire access routes to the wilderness and the Irvine Conservancy's "Fire Watch"
volunteers utilize the end of Ridge Park as their look -out for potential fires.
Also, Pacific Ridge shares a fire access road with Crystal Cove.
Our Failed Solution
We hired our community's security company to patrol parking once or twice per day
Monday - Saturday.
Our Results
The private parking patrol ticketed 264 firelane violators within 11 weeks. These tickets
were placed on vehicles at all hours of the night and day.
Because our tickets carry no penalty, they were easily dismissed by the violators.
Visitors and homeowners both made up the violators.
The Bottom Line
If the city were to send a parking patrol officer through Pacific Ridge once per day, at
$45 per ticket, the city would "pay" for their costs with the estimated $56,000 per year
revenue and help to keep the Pacific Ridge citizens and adjacent wilderness safe.
Thank -You for your consideration.

Reauest Number 2'
Recreational Areas Parking Conflict
Your Parks and Recreation Department needs to be aware of an upcoming problem.
Currently under construction is a soccer, baseball, basketball, recreational area near the
end of Ridge Park, at the intersection of East Coastal Peak, neighborhood #64.
At the present time, the end of Ridge Park is used as a parking area for bicyclists
challenging themselves with the steepness of Ridge Park as well as mountain bicyclists
and hikers gaining access into the Irvine Conservancy wilderness (I am told that this
access point is used to avoid an entrance fee). Their parking consumes both sides of
Ridge Park and a portion of East Coastal Peak.
We would like to express our concern of dangerous "over parking" along the two
roadways because the current firelane demarcation on Ridge Park stops just prior to the
new recreation area and because the new recreational area will generate many more
vehicles than parking spaces (about 40, including HC).
Please have the Fire Marshal help with a safe street parking design.
Thank -You for your dedication to the Newport Beach and Newport Coast!
